Olive arrives

Just Another Day in Social Media. 😉
A few months ago, we said good-bye to our 12-year-old cockapoo, Beatrice. It was devastating, and I didn't think I'd want a dog for a long, long time. Well, turns out I was wrong.
Shortly after Beatrice passed away, a friend told me about a local rescue organization, and of course, I checked out the site regularly. There was one dog that jumped out at me right from the beginning. But I kept thinking, 'I'm just not ready yet.'
Fast forward to the last week of April: I noticed she was still available. I was shocked. She is a beautiful six-year-old Lab. So I thought, why not submit an application? I might not get her, but I could at least try.Â
On Friday night, Olive joined our family and it's been amazing! I honestly didn't expect everything to happen so quickly. And since she is a rescue dog, I feel like I need to devote some extra attention to her, especially in the early days and weeks. So that means I'll be taking a few weeks off from the newsletter as Olive gets settled in.Â
The Social Platypus will return on Monday, June 6th. In the meantime, feel free to follow Olive's Instagram account: @oliveisalllove.Â
And I don't want to leave you completely empty handed! If you have a NY Times subscription, this op-ed by Ezra Klein makes some interesting points: TikTok May Be More Dangerous Than it Looks. Let me know what you think...

Hey, congrats — you made it to the bottom of the e-newsletter!
If you really liked it, why not forward it to a friend. 💌
